Fireplace Rod and Valance Kit Installation Instructions

1. Remove Rods from Central Rod Holder.

2. Push Adjustable Extension Brackets all the way inside Central Rod Holder, shortening Valance to its minimum length (31 ½”).

3. Measure your fireplace opening to determine center. Mark with pencil.

4. Center the Central Rod Holder inside your firebox. Mark two holes with pencil for locating center screws.

NOTE: The L-shaped Central Rod Holder must be inverted, so the two holes between rod holder hooks face the roof of your firebox. The vertical façade of Valance should be flush with the outer edge of the roof of your firebox.

5. Drill two pilot holes for center screws using 3/16” masonry drill bit.

NOTE: If your firebox has a metal lintel, first drill a ¼” hole through the metal using a drill bit made for that purpose. Then drill using ” masonry drill bit.

6. Secure Central Rod Holder using two Blue Tapcon Screws.

7. Slide one Adjustable Extension Bracket outward until it makes contact with the inner wall of your firebox opening. Mark hole located at the end of Adjustable Extension Bracket with pencil.

8. Drill pilot hole for end screw using
3/16" masonry drill bit.

9. Secure Adjustable Extension Bracket using Blue Tapcon Screw.

10. Repeat steps 7 through 9 for Adjustable Extension Bracket on opposite end of Valance.

11. Thread Rod through top rings of one Screen Panel.

NOTE: Skip first ring of Screen Panel. Begin with SECOND ring, at end of Rod WITHOUT right angle. (End ring will be attached inside Valance.)

12. Insert Rod with Screen Panel into Central Rod Holder.

NOTE: Facing your fireplace, begin with RIGHT SIDE Screen Panel. Before installing, attach the end ring of Screen Panel onto end rod holder hook located on Adjustable Extension Bracket. (This will help prevent Screen Panel from pulling away from outer walls of firebox when in use.) The Rod end with right angle will insert into same rod holder hook. Opposite end of Rod will slide through rear rod holder hook located in Central Rod Holder.

13. Repeat steps 11 and 12 for other Rod and LEFT SIDE Screen Panel. When complete, Screen Panels should overlap at the center.

14. Attach Screen Pulls according to instructions on packaging.

Optional Step: Use pliers to adjust Screen height up to ½”, by bending rod holder hooks located in Central Rod Holder. To lower Screen Panels, bend hooks away from each other. To raise Screen Panels, bend hooks closer together. Screen Panels should clear the firebox floor by no more than ½”.
